The money
How much can I save by switching internet?
The honest answer is that we cannot tell you without your figures, and anyone quoting an average is guessing. What decides it is the difference between your all-in bill and the full cost of an equivalent plan at your address — that means the advertised rate plus the equipment, taxes and fees that will land on the new bill too, not the headline on its own. Households that have been past their promotional end date for a while tend to have the widest difference, because the standard rate has been running longest. Read us your bill and we will work out yours.
Why do new customers get better prices than loyal ones?
Because acquisition budgets are larger than retention budgets. Promotional pricing exists to win a household; once you are on the books the standard rate applies. It is not personal, and it is not going to change, which is why switching periodically is rational.
Should I just call my current provider and ask for a discount?
Often, yes — and it should be your first move if the gap is small. Retention offers are real. They are also usually shorter and smaller than new-customer pricing. We will tell you when to try that instead of switching.
What fees should I expect when switching?
Typically a one-time activation or installation charge with the new provider, and equipment to return to the old one. Unreturned equipment is the charge that catches people out most. There is rarely an early-termination fee on internet these days.
Switching
How long does a switch take?
Usually under two weeks end to end. A self-install kit arrives in a few days; a technician appointment may be a week or more out in busy markets. The order itself takes about ten minutes on the phone.
Will I have a gap without service?
Not if it is sequenced correctly: install and confirm the new service first, then cancel the old one. Cancelling first is the single most common self-inflicted problem.
What do I need to return?
Every piece of leased equipment: modem, router, TV boxes, remotes. Keep the receipt until the final bill clears. Unreturned-equipment charges show up months later.
Can I keep my email address or phone number?
Phone numbers transfer, yes — that is routine. Provider-issued email addresses generally do not survive a switch, so move anything important to an independent address first.
About us
Who is Switch & Save?
An independent authorized retailer based in Hicksville, NY 11801. We are not a provider. We sell the services of the providers we hold agreements with, and we are open about which providers those are and which we cannot order.
How are you paid?
The provider pays us a commission once an order we placed is activated. Nothing is added to your bill. We disclose it on every page because it is the basis on which you should judge the advice.
Do I pay more ordering through you?
No. Authorized retailers sell the provider's own advertised offers at the provider's own price and cannot mark them up. What you get is somebody doing the comparison and the paperwork.
Is this the official site of any provider?
No. Provider names appear here because we are authorized to sell them or because they show up in availability results. Your service agreement, billing and support come from the provider.
The numbers on this site
Where do your price figures come from?
Providers' own advertised residential offers, last reviewed August 2026 generally and September 16, 2026 for the Spectrum pages. They are indicative national starting prices; the real figure for your address is confirmed by the provider at the time of order.
Is the savings estimator a quote?
No, and it does not pretend to be. It compares the number you enter against typical advertised starting prices for the technologies reported at your ZIP. It cannot know what is available at your specific address, what promotions are live today, or what taxes and equipment add. It is a prompt to make the call, not a promise.
Where does the availability data come from?
The FCC Broadband Data Collection (December 2024 filing), the federal record of where providers report offering service across 31,409 residential ZIP codes. It is ZIP-level; the provider confirms the individual address.
Still not sure
The questions worth asking before you move.
Most of what decides a switch is not the headline rate. It is the term, the equipment, what happens when the promotion ends, and whether an equivalent plan actually reaches your address.
